Concept for Hananiah (Shadrach). The pose was taken from a Pierre Paul Prud'hon drawing, and the hatching was influenced from Raphael and Michelangelo drawings. I wanted to mix 'old master' techniques with a little cartoon flare.

Storyboard ideas for story from Daniel 3. King Nebuchadnezzar throws Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into a fiery furnace for not worshipping his idol, and God saves them...Amazing!

Truth

A friend of mine gave me the idea to draw the word 'truth' using the cross. I thought it was a sweet idea.

So i took it and ran with it. The designs coming from the cross are various created things, such as flowers, trees, animals, music notes, celestial objects...
All things created by God and for his glory. They also are to represent life, and how life flows from the cross. It's an incredible idea to think that through this one man's death we can live forever! Amazing!

When he died, he died to sin once, and now that he lives, he lives to God. So we should count ourselves dead to sin, but alive to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:10-11

1 panel illustrations...'The One Serving'

these are illustrations from a passage in Luke 22:24-30. Jesus was using the image of people eating and the server in response to the disciples wondering who was the greatest. He asked who is greater between the person seating to eat and the server. And after saying it is the one eating, said that he is among us as the one serving. It's an amazing image of Jesus' humility and servant heart. And it is incredible that he came in such humility and served a world that was full of evil, and he served and loved people in sin, and hostile to God. Incredible.

It's also a great image for how followers of Jesus should be living. Not as the one eating, but as the server.

In this pic (i know its kind of small), the characters at the table are suppose to emulate various works of the flesh.



Going from the left to right, the two men are 'drunkeness.' the guy on the phone is 'rebellion against parents,' his mom and dad are sitting to the right of him. the dad has his arm around his wife but is looking at the girl next to him with dark hair, they are 'lust' and 'adultery.' the next girl over is 'vanity' and 'selfishness.' the guy on the phone with the shades and the character next to him are 'greed.' and finally you have the server serving them.

The table was to represent the world and ways of the world, and how Jesus came as a servant in the world.

This is a more simple illustration of the same verse. It's done with non-photo blue pencil.

He walked ON water...Amazing!

This is taken from Matthew 14:22-33, the story where Jesus walks on the water to his disciples, who were sailing in a boat. I broke it down in to 6 panels.

Panel 1 - the disciples set sail across the lake.
Panel 2 - while they are sailing, a great storm arises
Panel 3 - Jesus comes walking to the disciples on the water, and they are terrified.
Panel 4 - Peter asks to walk on the water to Jesus, and Jesus lets him.
Panel 5 - Peter becomes afraid of the storm and sinks, and Jesus pulls him up.
Panel 6 - Peter and Jesus enter the boat. As Jesus gets in, the storm completely stops and the disciples worship him as the Son of God.

These illustrations were used to teach kids at an apartment ministry program. It's just illustration without text, so the teacher can explain the story using the pictures...and in a cartoony format so it will apeal to kids.
I feel like any Bible story could be taught with simple illustrations, AND sometimes could be drawn to resemble different parts of the world, so people all over the world could relate to the illustrations!

There are so many possibilities! It's awesome!
